Public Meetings on the State of the Information & Media Industry in Zimbabwe
Gweru Meetings Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th April
This week sees more meetings in the countrywide Outreach Programme of the
Information and Media Panel of Inquiry [IMPI]. All those wishing to attend
these meetings in Gweru are welcome at the venues listed below. They are
intended to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to be involved
and help to shape Zimbabwe's information and media industry of the future.
This Week's Meetings: Gweru
The programme for this week is as follows:
Wednesday 23rd April at 11.30 am

Venue: Mkoba Hall
Thursday 24th April at 9.00 am
Gweru
Venue: Midlands State University [MSU]
Further public meetings in other centres will follow until IMPI has covered
all ten provinces. Last week IMPI held meetings in Mashonaland East,
Manicaland and Masvingo.

IMPI's Mandate
After covering all ten provinces, the panel is mandate compile a report to
be presented to the Ministry of Media, Information and Broadcasting
Services. It has been given four months to finish this task.
Last week IMPI chairperson Geoff Nyarota said the panel has seven thematic
committees set up to cover issues including media as business, information
platforms and content of media products, media training, capacity building
and ethics, media law reform and access to information, employment
opportunities and conditions of service of journalists, polarisation,
perception and interference as well as gender issues and media advocacy.
