Post-Budget Analysis

Committee Meetings Open to the Public: Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th
January

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development presented the 2015 National
Budget Statement in Parliament on 27th November.  Both Houses then adjourned
until Tuesday 16th December.  [The Budget statement and the Estimates of
Expenditure for 2014 - the "Blue Book" - are available from Veritas - see
addresses given at the end of this bulletin.]

MPs will spend next week, 8th to 12th December in intensive meetings in
preparation for the National Assembly debate that will commence when the
Assembly resumes sitting on 16th December.  They will start with a one-day
Post-Budget Seminar on Monday 8th December, followed by several days of
portfolio committee meetings.   Each committee will analyse the Budget as it
affects the Ministries/sectors that it oversees, and prepare a report to be
presented by the committee chairperson during the debate in the Assembly.  

Each committee will hold one meeting that will be open to the public on
Tuesday or Wednesday [see details of day, time and venue below].  This
meeting will be to analyse the Budget proposals with the assistance of
officials of the Ministries concerned and invited stakeholders.  This
meeting will be open to members the public, but as observers only, not as
participants.  Members of the public may, however, make written submissions
for consideration by the committees, which should be either delivered to
Parliament or emailed to clerk at parlzim.gov.zw, . marked for the attention of
the appropriate committee.

Thereafter each committee will meet in closed session to deliberate and
prepare its report.  These meetings will be on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th
December, and may continue on Monday 15th and the morning of Tuesday 16th if
more time is needed to complete the reports.

the corner of  3rd Street.
