Public Meetings on the State of the Information & Media Industry in Zimbabwe
Matabeleland Meetings All This Week, 5th to 11th May
This week there will be further public meetings in the countrywide Outreach
Programme of the Information and Media Panel of Inquiry [IMPI], all in
Matabeleland. All those wishing to attend these are welcome at the venues
listed below. The meetings are intended to provide an opportunity for all
interested persons to be involved and help to shape Zimbabwe's information
and media industry of the future.
The programme for this week is as follows:
Matabeleland North
Monday 5th May at Binga, 9.30 am
Venue: Tusinte Community Centre
Tuesday 6th May at Lupane, 9.30 am
Venue: Lupane Community Hall
Wednesday 7th May at Tsholotsho, 9.30 am
Venue: Roman Catholic Church Hall
Bulawayo
Thursday 8th May, 9.30 am
Venue: National University of Science & Technology [NUST]
Thursday 8th May, at 4.30 pm
Venue: Bulawayo Small City Hall
Friday 9th May, 9.30 am
Venue: Nkulumane Hall
Matabeleland South
Friday 9th May at Maphisa, 2.30 pm
Venue: Omadu Hotel
Saturday 10th May at Mzingwane, 9.30 am
Venue: Mzingwane Rural District Council Hall
Saturday 10th May at Gwanda, 2.30 pm
Venue: Jahunda Community Hall
Sunday 11th May at Beitbridge, 9.30 am
Venue: Dulibadzimu Stadium
Further public meetings in other provinces will follow until IMPI has
covered all ten provinces.

IMPI's Mandate
The panel's mandate is to compile a report to be presented to the Ministry
of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services. It has been given four
months to finish this task.
The panel has seven thematic committees set up to cover issues including
media as business, information platforms and content of media products,
media training, capacity building and ethics, media law reform and access to
information, employment opportunities and conditions of service of
journalists, polarisation, perception and interference as well as gender
issues and media advocacy.
